Monasterevin AFC

Our U/14 lads made the journey to Caragh Celtic knowing 3 points would see them jump prosperous into top spot in the league. But it was Caragh that started the faster scoring in the 2nd minute but mafc were back level within the minute when devan Abbey equalised. But monasterevin struggled to clear balls with Caragh going 2-1 up 2 minutes later. And 3-1 after 13 min. Christian Whelan made endless runs and got his reward after closing down the keeper and forcing the mistake to make it 3-2 but again we struggled down the right side and failed to clear and Caragh made it 4-2 and 5-2 just before the break. MAFC manager James Martin made some changes at half time and encouraged his lads that they could still get something out of the game but they need to keep tight at the back and thrust the system.

The second half saw MAFC pull one back 10 minutes into the 2nd half when devan passed to Christian to get his 2nd of the game dev then gets his own when Charlie cullen puts him through. With 10 minutes to go it was all to play for when Adam Martin who was about to come off from an injured knee gets passed the ball from Devan and with plenty of space struck the ball into the top corner from 25yards out. 5-5 mafc were on top now and we're keeping it tight at the back. Then Ben Doyle turns provider and puts Christian in to score his 2nd hattrick of the season. MAFC saw the game out and won 6-5 after Caragh pushed for an equaliser.
