Tinryland gain first win in Minor Football championship

Cental Carlow MFC Div 1

                   Tinryland 10-16                                                     Michael Davitts 3-5

Tinryland gained their first win in this years Carlow Minor championship with an emphatic win over the Leighlin parish side Michael Davits at Pairc Liam Dob in Ballinabranna on Thursday last. This game was over as a contest as early as the 5th minute when the winners led by 10 points courtesy of 3 goals from Ross Moran (2) and 1-1 from full forward Tomas Murphy.

It was all one-way traffic for the remainder of the half as the boys in blue and white added further goals from Tomas Murphy (2) and Jamie Doyle together with points from Doyle, Ross Moran (2), and Gael O’Rock.  Michael Davitts decorated the scoreboard on two occasions in the first half with points from midfielder Daniel Dunne and centre back Mark Stanley. The area team missed a gilt-edged chance mid-way through the half when Radek Brezinski was narrowly wide with his goal attempt. Half time score Tinryland  6-5 Michael Davitts 0-2.

When referee Brian Deering started the 2nd half Tinryland began emptying their bench introducing Tadhg Deane and his cousins Brandon and Jamie into the action. Within 2 minutes the Deane brothers Brandon and Jamie both scored points and Tadhg made it a hat trick for the Deanes when he pointed in the 34th minute. Another Tinryland goal from Cian Buckley extended the Tinryland advantage mid-way through the half before Michael Davitts staged a mini revival with goals from Tommy McDonald (2) and Radek Brezinski but Tinryland never let up scoring 4 more majors via Cian Buckley, Walter Webb, Dan Kehoe and Cian McNamara.

Tinryland will have 2 remaining games in this division against Eire Og and Bagenalstown Gaels and it is likely that these two sides could meet again in the Division 1B consolation championship.
