Tinryland GFC club notes 17th August 2025

  Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 17th August 2025

After a long hot summer of inactivity, the football championship season finally got under way on Tuesday last when our 3rd adult team travelled to Presentation College Askea to take on the home clubs 2nd team. Despite losing by 5 points in a lively high scoring game there were lots of positives taken out of this game with 20 players making up the Tinryland panel. Not many rural clubs at our level can field 3 adult teams.  The 3rd team will be back in action on Tuesday 2nd September at home to St Patricks in round 3 having got a bye in round 2. Our U14 team competing in division 2B were successful in their game away to Palatine on Wednesday last.

In the coming week numerous underage teams from Tinryland will be in action. On tomorrow Monday 18th August our U16 team will be at home to Mount Leinster Rangers with our minor team travelling to Ballinabranna on Thursday next 21st August to take on Michael Davitts with a 7 p.m. throw in.

Tinryland U14s will be at home to Michael Davitts on Sunday next 24th August at 11 a.m.

Our youngest teams namely our U8s and U10s will travel to the Ballyhogue tournament in Wexford on Saturday next 23rd August while on the same day our U12 team will be competing in the Cental U12 festival of football at the Netwatch training Centre in Fenagh.

Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies the current Carlow, Leinster and All Ireland champions will hope to make further progress in this years Tellab Carlow S.F.C. when they host St. Brigids on this coming weekend. The exact date for this game still has to be confirmed. That game has now been confirmed for Friday next 23rd August in Rathcrogue at 7 p.m.

Congratulations to Bennekerry/Tinryland legend Deirdre Tomlinson on winning a silver medal with the Irish team at the FIMBA World Masters basketball championship held recently in Switzerland.

The club lotto jackpot still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were Padraig Delaney, Audrey Doyle and Angela and Declan Carey.
