Bereavements

We extend sympathy to Geraldine, Anne-Marie, Jenny, Eimear, and Robert Meagher

and Helen O’Brien on the recent death of Liam Meagher, Lismoynan. In his younger days Liam was a talented Badminton player winning a division 3 Co. Final in 1982-83 and an Intermediate Co. Final in 1983-84 as well as several tournaments. His son Robert was a member of several successful St. Patricks hurling and football teams and winning 3 South Tipperary Junior Hurling medals along the way while daughter Jenny also had a successful Ladies Football career with St. Patricks. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

Within a few days of her husband Liam’s death, Geraldine’s mother Annie Anglim (nee Eivers) passed away. We extend sympathy to Geraldine, Paul, and Tom. Annie was a top-class Badminton player in her day winning Co. Tipperary and Munster championships and was a member of the team that won Drangan’s first badminton title The Brady Cup in 1954. As there were no Badminton championships in Tipperary Annie was a member of the Drangan team that won the Waterford Division 2 cup in 1955 on a team that included Annie’s late husband Tom. Geraldine was also a prominent member of several successful badminton teams. It was in football that Paul and Tom Junior made their names winning South Junior football final in 1986 with Tom adding a South and Co. medal in 1991 and a south senior title in 1990 as well as a South Intermediate title in 1995. Tom played with the Tipperary footballers for many years winning an All-Ireland B final in 1995 as well as wearing the Blue of Munster Footballers against Ulster in March 1996.

Annie’s late husband Tom was a prominent footballer in his day and served as club chairman for St. Patricks GAA Club. May the soul of Annie Anglim rest in peace.
