Bereavement

We extend sympathy to the Lyons Family Ballyluskey on the recent death of Mrs. Kathleen Lyons RIP. Kathleen was one of the top sellers for the local parish lotto until covid arrived on the local scene and social gatherings had to yield to major restrictions.

Kathleen’s family made a major contribution to St. Patricks GAA club with Maurice helping them to victory in the South Tipperary Junior Football Final of 1986. Noel helped St. Patricks to victory in the South Tipperary Minor Hurling Final of 1999 with his nephew Mark McCormack at Right Corner Back. Noel and Mark were both winners of South Tipperary Junior A Hurling and Football finals in 2005. Noel had already helped St. Patricks to win both hurling and football Under 12 South Finals in 1995. Damian McCormack was a member of the team which brought St. Patricks our first ever Co. Hurling title with an under 12 victory in 1999. Damian was a member of the Co. Tipperary minor football team in 2005. Parents Catherine and John gave many years of service to St. Patricks at Juvenile and Adult level. John Joe, Paul and Philip all played for St. Patricks underage teams before going further a field. As we write these few lines Aidan Fitzgerald is a member of the Co. Tipperary under 20 hurling panel and with his brothers Seán and Darragh has made an enormous contribution to St. Patricks GAA as has their mother Bernadette in her teaching role in Drangan National School while Liam Fitzgerald has been a constant worker for St. Patricks GAA since his arrival in the parish. Josephine and Brendan are constant workers in the background for Ballingarry GAA where they ensure child welfare matters are in order. Rita O’Connor and her husband Dan are hard workers for Kilsheelan-Kilcash GAA, and their sons Billy and Tommy have both worn the Blue and Gold at underage level. Marie has been involved in Cahir GAA for many years where her husband Andy Moloney served his time as a referee and is now a tireless worker for the local community as a member of the County Council. Going into Leinster Paul is a hard worker for Dublin club Clan na Gael, Philip is chairman of the Kildalkey club in Meath with whom Geraldines lads also played underage. We should not forget the late Helen Kearns (nee Lyons) who represented her native St. Patricks in set dancing before taking up residence in Clare. May the soul of Kathleen Lyons Rest In Peace.
