Shock and sadness descended upon Moynalvey/Kiltale early Friday morning with news of the sudden passing of one of Moynalvey’s finest footballers Tommy Fay.
Tommy lined out with Moynalvey right through underage to senior, starring at midfield in an U-14 Div. 4 final in 1981 - ironically defeating his later to be Moynalvey team-mate & friend Declan Tuite, before going on to represent Meath at minor level claiming Leinster MFC honours in 1985 when defeating Offaly in the final only to be beaten by Mayo in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.
Tommy lined out mainly at midfield on the talented Moynalvey side of the 1990’s, with his proudest moment coming when captaining the Moynalvey team which won the 1993 Feis Cup with victory over Navan O’Mahonys. (although the final was played in 1994).
1994 also saw Tommy being part of a Moynalvey panel which claimed honours in a Meath 7-a-side championship competition, while two years later he lined out in a SFC Semi-Final defeat to a talented Kilmainhamwood side which went on to win the 1996 Keegan Cup.
We pass our deepest sympathies to Maureen, Rachel, Conor, Anna and to Tommys extended family and wide circle of friends at this sad time.
Details of Tommy's funeral arrangements are as follows:Reposing at Heffernan's Funeral Home, High Street, Trim, (EirCode C15 HDT1) on Tuesday 8th from 5pm to 7pm.
