         Tinryland GFC club notes 21st June 2026

The past week was a quiet one on the playing front with only one underage game decided. Our U14 team lost out by the minimum margin to our neighbours Palatine in a close encounter on Monday last. In the coming week three Tinryland teams will be in action. On this coming Monday 22nd June Tinryland minors will be at home to Eire Og in the opening round of the minor championship at 7 p.m. On Thursday next 25th June Tinryland U16 team will be away to Palatine No 2 team in Bennekerry at 7.30 p.m.

Tinryland was one of the Carlow venues for the John West Hurling Feile on Saturday last with Setanta hurling club hosting 8 clubs from around Ireland.

On this coming Saturday and Sunday 27th and 28th June the 2nd weekend of the Southeast sevens will be held when 30 Girls and boys U15 teams will battle it out for the Tommy O’Neill and Peenie and Mick Whelan cups and shields.  The competition will conclude on the following weekend when the Cora Townsend and Ned Hayden cups will be fought out between 32 more club teams.

The annual Tinryland GFC golf classic was held in Gowran park golf club on Friday and Saturday last and attracted 24 teams for this important club fundraiser. The following were the winners:

Winning team Harry O'Brien, Bobby Doyle, Jack Dunne, and Jamie Coakley.  Longest drive Sam McHugh. Nearest the pin pat Conway on the 9th and Brian Healy on the 10th.

Congratulations to the Carlow ladies team and the 8 Bennekerry Tinryland players on the panel who defeated London in round 3 of the All-Ireland championship in Ruislip on Saturday last.

Tickets are now on sale for the Tinryland GFC club development draw which takes place on Saturday 11th July at the members night summer party.

The club lotto jackpot of €10,000 still stands and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were Brian Deane, Conor Brennan, Lisa Ryan and Orla Delaney.
