Tinryland relegated to Division 4

S.F.L Division 3 relegation match

                    Palatine 1-12                                                            Tinryland 1-4

Palatine will play division 3 football next season while Tinryland will drop down to division 4 after the Cnoc Arda men comfortably accounted for their neighbours at the Training centre on Saturday 16th May. In a game dominated by a strong cross wind both sides shared 2 dozen wides between them, but Palatine showed more accuracy in the scoring stakes. After both defences dominated in the early stages Palatine centre back Sam McHugh opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a well taken point. Both sides were guilty of more wides until Jamie Doyle scrambled the ball to the net after great play by Sean Murphy and Alan Barrett. Palatine settled down to dominate over the next 15 minutes scoring seven unanswered points in that period of play. Full Forward Fionn O’Toole, centre back Sam McHugh and centre forward Mark Buggy were the main contributors in the scoring charts for the eventual winners. Tinryland No. 13 Shay McCullough pulled one point back for Tinryland before referee Jonathon Murphy sounded the half time whistle. Half time score Palatine 0-8 Tinryland 1-1.

When the 2nd half began Palatine introduced Glen Forde and Zac Nolan into the action with Tinryland sending on Charlie Keogh who looked lively when introduced. Palatine added another point as early as the 33rd minute with another conversion from Fionn O’Toole. The icing was put on the cake in the 37th minute when Pal wing back Mark Mulhall who was excellent throughout crashed the ball past Evan Doyle in the Tinryland goal to give his side an eight-point advantage with 20 minutes remaining. To their credit Tinryland kept plugging away and were rewarded with a Sean Murphy point and a brilliant two pointer from Shay McCullough who moved well in the 2nd half. Both sides emptied their benches over the closing stages with Tinryland sending on Owen Townsend, Daryl Nolan and John Dempsey and Palatine giving game time to three more players.  Both sides will now turn their attention to their respective Junior (A) and Junior (B) championships which commence in July. Tinryland had good performers in Evan Doyle, Luke Cahill, Cian McGuire, Adam Fennelly, Sean Murphy, Conall McGuire and Shay McCullough
