Tinryland G.F.C. club Notes 26th April 2026
It was another mixed week on the playing front with successful outings for our No. 1 team in the SFL div 1 and by the U16 team away to Grange in the Spring League.
Our Intermediate team recorded their first victory in this years league and still can make the knockout stages when they play Old Leighlin in two weeks’ time. Tinryland’s 2nd 15 travelled to Myshall on Saturday evening but they were well beaten by the home side. This team who will be in the junior B grade at championship level will have one more game in the league away to Palatine on Saturday 9th May.
There is only one underage football game scheduled for the coming week when our U14 team host O’Hanrahans on next Sunday morning 3rd May at 11 a.m.
A table quiz in aid of the juvenile section of Tinryland G.F.C. will be held in the clubhouse on this coming Friday 1st May commencing at 8 p.m. Tables of 4 cost €20 and there will be 10 rounds of 10 questions including a picture round. All support will be welcomed particularly from parents of juvenile players.
The 2nd Tinryland village half marathon will take place on this coming Saturday 2nd May at 11 am. Tinryland GFC will be the race headquarters for the event that has attracted an entry of 600 athletes. The roads of the 3-lap course will be closed from 10am until 2 p.m. Proceeds from this event will be for Tinryland National school autism unit.
Best wishes to Tinryland community hub that will be officially opened on this coming Friday 1st May when KCLR radio will be in attendance from 10 a.m.
Congratulations to St. Josephs soccer club on their recent victory in the Carlow cup final against Bagenalstown.
The club lotto jackpot of €10,000 is still standing and can be played online via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Shane Redmond, Patrick O’Neill, Cathal Purcell and Seamus Cranny.
