Tinryland’s 2nd fifteen found the going tough against the Naomh Eoin first fifteen in this 6th round game in Myshall on Saturday evening played in fine but breezy conditions. With the aid of the strong breeze in the first half Tinryland held their own against a fast-moving home team who were playing at Intermediate championship level last year. Only for a litany of wides and poor shot selections Tinryland could have been even nearer to the Myshall men when referee Seamus Doyle blew the half time whistle with the scoreboard reading Naomh Eoin 2-4 Tinryland 0-5. A feature of that first half was the two Myshall goals scored in the 16th and 30th minutes by corner back Eamon Lalor and full forward Scott Treacy who was rampant throughout. Tinryland’s scores in the opening 30 minutes came from Alan Barrett, Shay McCullough, Glen Doyle, Conall McGuire and Sam Byrne.
When play resumed It was Naomh Eoin with breeze advantage that began to take over. Both sides introduced subs at this stage with Darragh Redmond and Padraig Townsend coming on for Tinryland and Dwaine Kavanagh coming off the bench for Naomh Eoin. The home side extended their advantage in the 35th minute with another goal from Scott Treacy and in a 20-minute spell Treacy scored 3 two pointers and another normal one to leave the scoreboard reading 3-11 to 0-5 before Conall McGuire and Glen Doyle (Two Pointer) put some semblance of respectability on the scoreboard. Tinryland will play their final league game away to Palatine on Saturday 9th May while Naomh Eoin will be hoping to extend their successful league with a victory away to league leaders Mount Leinster Rangers.
