       Tinryland GFC club notes 19th April 2026

In the past week there was mixed success once again for the various Tinryland teams in action. On Wednesday last our minor team travelled to Rathvilly where they achieved a victory over an understrength home team. Two of the minor players Oisin Byrne and Tadgh Deane were part of the Carlow squad that defeated Wexford in the Electric Ireland Leinster M.F.C. with Oisin coming on as a sub in the 2nd half. At underage level in the Cental mini league Tinryland U12 team defeated Eire Og but lost to Kildavin/Clonegal in the past week. Our club competed in the Carlow Feile at the Centre of Excellence over the weekend reaching the semi-final with a victory over O’Hanrahans. This team then came up against a strong Rathvilly outfit in the semi-final with the Wicklow border side advancing to the final.

At adult level Tinryland and Rathvilly played a very competitive Carlow Credit Union division 3 game in Rathcrogue on Friday last with the Rathvilly men edging the game by 2 points against a much-improved home side who will compete in the JFC (B) at championship level.

Our 3rd team competing in division 5 were forced to concede a walk over against St. Patricks on Sunday due to lack of players available.

In the coming week Tinryland U16 team will be away to Grange in the spring league on this Monday 20th April at 7.30 p.m.  On Friday next our division 1 team will be hoping for a first league victory when they entertain St. Patricks in Rathcrogue at 7.30 p.m. On the following evening at 5 p.m. in Myshall our 2nd adult team will play the home side Naomh Eoin in division 3 also hoping for a first win in the league.

Bennekerry-Tinryland senior ladies recorded their 2nd victory in this years league with a 5-point win over Co. champions Ols Leighlin on Saturday last.

A table quiz in aid of the juvenile section of Tinryland G.F.C. will be held in the club on Friday 1st May at 8 p.m. All support from parents of underage players will be welcomed.

The club lotto jackpot of €10,000 still stands and can be played online via the club force app where membership fees can also be paid. Last weeks lotto lucky dip winners were: Eamonn O’Sullivan, Bob Cahill, Bernadette Scott, and Breda O’Leary.
