  Tinryland GFC club notes 28th September 2025

It was a mixed week for our club on and off the field. After the controversary surrounding the final result of the 3rd round game in the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai S.F.C. Tinryland delegates attended a hearing of the Carlow Co. board CCC on Thursday last. Unfortunately, the hearing went against the club and the objection to the final result was lost. Tinryland must now face Eire Og in two weeks’ time to maintain senior status for 2026.

Our junior team competing in the Talbot Hotel J.F.C. B had a good win over Bagenalstown Gaels in the quarter final at the Training Centre on Sunday morning. 3 goals from the evergreen Evan Doyle were the difference between the teams while other players to shine were goalkeeper Lee Buggle, full back Ciaran Byrne together with the Murphy brothers Tomas and Sean, Joey Ryan and Seamus McCullough. Tinryland will now advance to the semi-final against Clonmore next weekend with the game fixed for Sunday next 5th October at 11.45 a.m on pitch 1 at the Centre Of Excellance.

On the field of play there was success for both our U14 and U16 teams in their respective games against Michael Davitts and Palatine.

Both teams will be in action in the coming week when the U16s play Grange/Clonmore on this Monday evening at 7 p.m. in the Division 2 quarter final in the Training Centre while the U14 team will face Palatine in the Division 2B final also at the training centre on Wednesday 1st October at 7 p.m.  One hour later (8 p.m.) the Minor team will face Rathvilly in the shield semi-final also at the training Centre.

Bennekerry/Tinryland senior ladies the current All Ireland and Leinster Intermediate champions will face their old rivals Old Leighlin in the Carlow senior football final on Saturday next September 4th at the SETU grounds at 4 p.m.

The Tinryland GFC club lotto jackpot still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last week’s lucky dip winners were Liam Delaney, Tom and Patricia Lawler, Breda O’Leary and Emma Delaney.
