Tinryland GFC club notes 22nd September 2025
Tinryland’s future in the senior ranks hangs in the balance after the 3rd round game of the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Carlow SFC against Bagenalstown Gaels at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday. A one-point win would have been enough to progress to the quarter final and avoid the trapdoor of a relegation battle with Eire Og. After appearing to be on the way out in Sunday’s game having played well for long periods Tinryland scored two late points to level but the big talking point was an incident in the 15th minute of the first half when the men in blue and white appeared to score a legitimate point via Niall Lowry which most observers felt was over the bar. To the dismay of Tinryland supporters and most others in attendance the point was waved wide by the umpire. Tinryland having looked at the video of the incident have requested an urgent meeting with the CCC to review the failure to award the point given the implications of the result for our club and the Carlow senior football championship.
Our Junior team were well beaten by Eire Og in the Talbot Hotel JFC B in Rathcrogue on Friday last. This team are still in the championship and will now play Bagenalstown Gaels in the quarter final at 11.30 a.m. next Sunday 28th September on pitch No. 1 in the training centre Fenagh.
At underage level our U14 team are in action this evening Monday against Michael Davitts while our U16 team will play Palatine on tomorrow evening Tuesday 23rd September in Rathcrogue at 7 p.m.
The club lotto jackpot still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Patrick O’Neill, David O’Neill, Eamonn Byrne and Jody and Eddie Townsend.
