Talbot Hotel JFC C

                         St Patricks 4-15                                                         Tinryland 1-10

St. Patricks 2nd fifteen proved too strong for Tinryland’s 3rd team in this JFC C 3rd round at balmy Rathcrogue on Tuesday last. A blistering start from the men from the banks of the Slaney saw them race into a 5-point lead by the 10th minute via points from Eoin O’Toole, Adam Cleary, Oisin Lyons, Mubat Mudawapi and Kevin Healy before the home team opened their account with a Paddy Walshe point. The opening goal in the game then arrived courtesy of the lively veteran Eoin O’Toole who proved a thorn to the Tinryland defence throughout. Tinryland were feeding on scraps at this stage, but they managed a further 3 points before the break from their best player Tomas Murphy, Jamie Furlong and Murphy again. Meanwhile the Tullow men continued to dominate clocking up two more goals from Tadhg Foley in the 18th and 23rd minutes and with further points from Eoin O’Toole (2), Oisin Lyons, and Tadhg Black they led by 3-9 to 0-4 when referee Sean McCormack who had a fine game sounded the half time whistle.

When referee McCormack re-started proceedings Tinryland sprung John Dempsey and Adam Buggle from the bench with St. Patricks sending on Tommy Byrne. Within one minute of the re-start St. Patricks increased their advantage with a point from mid-fielder Dylan Hanley quickly followed by another from recently introduced sub-Tommy Byrne. Tinryland corner forward Keelan Quigley scored a Tinryland point in the 38th minute quickly followed by a goal from their long serving Evan Doyle who still retains the skills that served him well in his heyday. Tinryland’s mini revival continued with further points from Keelan Quigley Tomas Murphy and Quigley again but the men from Bro Leo Park continued to keep the scoreboard ticking with Tadhg Foley bringing up his hat trick and subs Gerry Dooley and Tommy Byrne together with Tadhg Black completing their scoring. Tinryland late points from John Dempsey and Evan Doyle completed the scoring for the home side in this sporting game.
