Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes August 30th, 2025
After a long hot summer of inactivity, the football championship season has finally arrived and all 3 adult teams from our club will be in action in the coming week. On this coming Tuesday 2nd September our 3rd team competing in the Talbot Hotel Junior C will be at home to St Patricks with a 7.30 p.m. throw in. On Saturday next 6th September Tinryland seniors will open their campaign in the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai S.F.C. in Netwatch Cullen park at 4 p.m. against Fenagh.
On the following evening at 6 p.m. Tinryland’s 2nd adult squad will be at home to Kildavin /Clonegal at 6 p.m. in the Talbot Hotel J.F.C. B.
Tinryland was well represented at the launch of the Carlow football championships on Wednesday last at Netwatch Cullen park. Danny Moran as captain of the senior team represented the club as did Eoghan Hosey (Junior B) and Declan Redmond Junior C.
On the previous day Cormac O’Brien, Cora O’Reilly and Eamonn Byrne represented Tinryland G.F.C. at the presentation by Carlow Credit Union to the club in respect of winning the senior football league division 1 title.
It was a quiet week on the underage scene but in the coming week 3 teams from the club will be in action. The U16 team will hope to continue their recent good form when they travel to play Naomh Eoin in Myshall on tomorrow Monday 1st September at 7 p.m. Our minor team will be at home to Eire Og on this coming Thursday 4th September at 7 p.m. while on Sunday next 7th September the U14 team will be away to Fenagh in Hogan Park at 10 a.m.
Bennekerry/Tinryland senior ladies will hope to get a step closer to another Carlow S.F.C. final when they travel to Bro Leo Park in Tullow to take on St. Annes on Saturday next 6th September at 7 p.m.
A fun table quiz to raise much needed funds for Tinryland juvenile G.F.C. will be held in the clubhouse on this coming Friday 5th September at 8 p.m. Tables of four will cost €40 and all parents of our underage players are encouraged to take part. The quiz will consist of ten rounds of 10 questions on general knowledge, sport, music etc and will include a picture round. Any donations for the interval raffle will be greatly appreciated.
The club lotto jackpot of €10,000 still stands and can be played online via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Audrey Doyle, Eamonn Byrne, Paul O’Gorman and Fiona Cullen.
