Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 31st May 2025
All roads lead to Netwatch Cullen Park on this coming Friday 6th June when Tinryland senior footballers will contest the Carlow Credit Union S.F.L. division 1 final against Co. champions Rathvilly at 8.30 p.m. Tinryland last won the league 57 years ago in 1968 and despite appearing in a handful of finals since they have not been successful at the final hurdle in that time. Next Fridays final will be preceded by the division 2 final between Eire Og and Kildavin-Clonegal.
Supporters are reminded that no cash will be accepted on the gate for Fridays final.
Our junior (A) team lost out by 5 points to a strong Fighting Cocks outfit in the division 3 relegation semi-final on Thursday last. Despite the loss the team performed better than they have this season and they will now take on O’Hanrahans in another relegation decider.
At underage level there was a very exciting Cental U14 group 2 game played on Saturday last in Rathcrogue when Eire Og edged out Tinryland on a scorelone of 4-9 to 4-8
It was with deep sadness that the club learned of the passing of former senior player Jim Kehoe in Ontario Canada on Thursday last. Jim who is the brother of our current senior manager Mick Kehoe figured on Tinryland teams during the 1980’s prior to emigrating to Canada in the early nineties. Tinryland G.F.C sends condolences to Mick and the extended Kehoe family.
The club lotto jackpot still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: J, K and B Deane, Conor Hayden, Michael Kehoe jnr and Jody Townsend.
