    Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 24th March 2024

Despiting losing by 3 points to unbeaten Leighlinbridge our junior team showed much improvement in round 3 of the S.F.L. division 3 on Saturday last. In a close match the result of this game was in the balance until the closing stages with both teams looking like winners on a number of occasions. Outstanding for Tinryland on Saturday were Chris Townsend, Vivian Nixon, Padraic Whelan, Conall McGuire, Conor Carew and Glenn Doyle. The juniors will be back in action on Saturday 6th April away to The Fighting Cocks at 7.30 p.m.

Our senior team will be next in action at home to Palatine on Friday 5th April at 7.30 p.m. in a game that will also be contested for the Andy Murphy memorial shield in aid of Carlow hospice.

John Murphy from our senior team was part of the Carlow team that defeated London on Sunday last in the final round of the Allianz National league.

Best wishes to the 3 Tinryland players on the Carlow U20 panel for the opening round of the Leinster championship on this Tuesday 26th March in Portlaoise at 7.30 p.m. They are Mark Mullen, Cillian Fagan and Cian McGuire.

At juvenile level our U14 team will commence their league campaign at home to Railyard on this Wednesday evening 27th March at 7 p.m. while our U16 team will be away to Clonmore on Thursday 28th March at 7 p.m. Juvenile training for U8 and U10 players will take place on Wednesday evenings between 6.30 p.m. and 7 30 p.m. Little Hoops training will begin on Wednesday 3rd April at 6.30 p.m.

Well done to the players from our sister club Bennekerry/Tinryland who helped Carlow ladies qualify for the Lidl N.F.L division 4 final and gain promotion to division 3 against Fermanagh on Sunday last. BT player Maeve O’Neill was the scorer of the last minute goal that won the game for Carlow. Other players on the Carlow panel from BT were Cliodhna Ni She, Ruth Bermingham captain, Sinead Hayden, Elaine Ware, and Shannon Cotter. Carlow will now play Limerick in the final.

The monthly club executive meeting will take place this Monday 25th march at 8.30 p.m.

The club lotto jackpot has risen to €6400 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw (8 p.m.) from any committee member.
