Match Report

S.F.L. Division 3

     Palatine 4-17                                              Tinryland 0-5

It was all one- way traffic in Rathcrogue on Sunday evening when the visitors Palatine proved too strong for a depleted home side who were further handicapped in the early stages by injuries to 2 key players Luke Broderick and Sam Byrne. Jamie Walker opened the scoring for Tinryland after 30 seconds with a point which was matched by a Pal score from one of their best players Cathal O’Neill. Tinryland were dealt a blow as early as the 3rd minute when midfielder Luke Broderick went down with an ankle injury which forced him to retire later in the half. Despite his injury Broderick slotted over another Tinryland point following an excellent Palatine goal from Tommy Fitzharris who received a pin point pass from full forward James Cranny.  Palatine were putting pressure on the Tinryland defence at this stage and were rewarded with another goal from Fionn O’Toole  and further points from Dylan Doyle (3) and wing forward Sean Walsh which enabled the Kildare border side to lead at the interval by 2-7 to 0-3.

On the resumption Palatine had the ball in the Tinryland net with a brilliant move finished by Padraic Kelly and from then to the finish it was all one- way traffic as the eventual winners clocked up another goal from O'Toole and a litany of points from Dylan Doyle, Cathal O’Neill, and 2nd half subs David Reid and Lee Gordon. Tinryland could only manage a further 2 points from Darragh Brennan and Jamie Walker in that second half and they were mighty glad to hear Damien Bradys long whistle which brought a conclusion to this one- sided game.

Tinryland will be at home to Askea on Saturday next 24th February at 7 p.m. while Palatine will be away to Fighting Cocks.
