Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 18th February 2024

Our senior team under new management made a good start to the season when they comfortably won the points in the opening S.F.L. division 1 game of the season on Friday last.

Fielding a mixture of youth and experience Tinryland shaded matters in a competitive first half leading by 2 points at the interval. Rathvilly scored their only goal of the game straight from the throw in for the 2nd half but Tinryland did not panic and gradually got to grips with the men from the Wicklow border. Tinryland’s only goal from 2nd half substitute Jamie Walker mid- way through the 2nd half was the catalyst for a strong finish and the men in blue and white ran out comfortable winners in the end on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-6. Outstanding for Tinryland were senior newcomers Matthew Gleeson, Sean Murphy, and Luke Broderick together with Danny Moran, Michael Hosey, Cormac O’Brien, Conor Ryan, Shane Redmond, Paddy Regan and Diarmaid Walshe. Tinryland seniors will be back in action on this coming Friday away to Old Leighlin in Molaise Park at 7.30 p.m.

Our junior team who are in Division 3 struggled against Palatine in the opening game of the season eventually losing out on a scoreline of 4-17 to 0-5. The juniors will be back in action on Saturday next 24th February at home to Askea.

The juniors will be at home to Askea on next Saturday evening 24th February at 7 p.m. in round 2 of the S.F.L. division 3.
