Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes February 11th 2024

The opening games in the new playing season will take place this coming weekend when 2 Tinryland adult teams will be in action. The senior team will be first in action when they host Rathvilly on Friday next 16th February at 7.30 p.m. in the opening round of the S.F.L. division 1. The junior team who play in division 3 will be away to Palatine on Sunday next 18th February at 6 p.m..

The senior teams league fixtures which were published during the week will see further games away to Old Leighlin on Friday 23rd February, away to Eire Og on Friday 8th March, home to Palatine on Friday 5th April, home to Clonmore on Friday 19th April with the final game away to Bagenalstown Gaels on Friday 3rd May. Unless the team then makes the knockout stages there will be no more competitive football until late August when the championships begin.

The club extends sympathy to the Brophy family formerly from Rathcrogue on the passing of former player Billy Brophy who was laid to rest in Tinryland cemetery on Sunday last. Tinryland G.F.C. provided a guard of honour at the removal of his remains to Tinryland church on Sunday morning.

Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies club will hold a family fun table quiz in our clubhouse on this coming Friday 16th February at 7.30 p.m. Each table of 4 costs €40. There will also be a raffle on the night with some fantastic prizes.

The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €5800 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member for the Monday evening draw.

There was no winner of the jackpot in last week’s lotto. Lucky dip winners were: Pat O’Gorman, Mary Murphy, Diarmaid Walshe and Andrea and Ciara c/o Cora O’Reilly.

The monthly club executive meeting will take place tomorrow Monday 12th February at 8 p.m.

The Irish Life “Every Step counts” walking challenge concludes on this Monday 12th February. Tinryland is currently placed 10 of over 200 clubs and is placed 2nd behind Naomh Eoin of the Carlow clubs taking part.
