Tinryland G.F.C. club Notes for 2nd August 2022

It was another quiet week on the playing front with only one team in competitive action.

Our U17 team continued their fine recent form with a very good win away to Bagenalstown Gaels in McGrath Park on Monday last. 2 first half goals from Sean Murphy and Peter Whelan laid the base for this win and further goals from Jonah Webb and Jack Ralph in the 2nd half saw the boys in blue and white comfortable winners in the end. Outstanding for Tinryland in this game were goalie Aaron Power, defenders Ben Yeats and Charlie Keogh together with Mikey Byrne, Peter Whelan, Jonah Webb and Conall McGuire.

Two juvenile teams will be in action in the coming weeks with the U13 team away to Naomh Eoin on Sunday next 7th August at 11 a.m. while our U11 squad will entertain Railyard on Saturday 13th August at 2 p.m.

Preparations are at an advanced stage for another music event in our club on Sunday 21st August when leading country and western artist Declan Nerney and his band will top the bill at an afternoon concert. The support act on the day will be the recently reformed Ritz Showband.

Bennekerry-Tinryland senior player Leah Mullins together with her fellow Carlow referee Marion Hayden were the two officials in charge of the line at the All Ireland senior final between Meath and Kerry in Croke park on Sunday last.

Deirdre Tomlinson from BT represented the club at the launch of the Amanda Kinsella memorial tournament on Wednesday last. The tournament will take place at the Palatine GAA grounds in Bennekerry on Saturday 13th August will all proceeds going to the Amy Lawlor memorial fund in aid of cystic fibrosis sufferers.

Well done to Adam Murphy of Tinryland A.C. who continued his fine form over 200m when he won his race at the National league round 2 in SETU Carlow on Sunday. Adam clocked 21.95 in defeating Joseph Finnegan from Tallaght A.C. and Emmanuel Ilori from Tullamore Harriers.

The club lotto now stands at €3700 and is held every Monday evening at 8 p.m. in our clubhouse.
