Two big days of underage football scheduled for this coming weekend
After weeks of planning, the stage is now set for two big days of underage football in our club on this coming Saturday and Sunday. With brilliant weather forecast for both day’s 32 girls and boys U12 teams from eight different counties will descend on our club grounds for what promises to be a very enjoyable event. On Saturday 16 girl’s teams will battle it out for the Cora Townsend cup and shield held in memory of a great Tinryland stalwart who did Trojan work for our club over the year’s and who passed away on 8th July 2014. On the 8th anniversary of her passing this week-end it is appropriate that a tournament of this magnitude is held in her memory.
On Sunday 16 boys teams will battle it out for the Ned Hayden cup and shield held in memory of one of the founder members of the modern club. Ned who passed away in 1947 after an accident was a player, mentor referee and committee man in the club and he had the distinction of playing in the 1916 Co. senior final having refereed the junior final beforehand.
All committee members and parents are requested to give a hand at some stage over the weekend and this event is a great opportunity to showcase Tinryland G.F.C. to the many visitors who will attend.
