                 Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes

The 3-day Tinryland G.F.C. Christmas Village proved to be very successful over the weekend with large attendances on each day. The event was launched on Friday evening when the attendance included Dublin football legends Barney and Dean Rock. Speakers at the opening ceremony included Tinryland G.F.C. chairman Bernard Mullen, Fintan Phelan chairman of Carlow Co. Council and Jim Bolger chairman of Carlow Co. board of the GAA. The official turning on of the lights on the large outdoor Christmas tree was performed by Tinryland G.F.C. president Joe O’Gorman together with Barney Rock. Father Tom Little P.P said prayers before the lights were turned on while St. Claire’s women’s and youth choirs performed carols by candlelight.

On Saturday and Sunday large crowds attended with the Santa train and grotto among the favourites while the numerous stalls did brisk business. The event was blessed with fine weather throughout.

Tinryland U20 team received a walk over from Askea in the final group B game of the Stryve Super league and as a result now top the group and progress straight to the semi-final.

The Tinryland G.F.C. A.G.M. will be held on Friday 17th December at 8 p.m.

Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies club held a very successful A.G.M. via zoom on Wednesday last.
