Tinryland G.A.A. News
After a summer of competitive inactivity Tinryland adult teams will finally be in action this coming weekend. The senior team will play our neighbours Palatine in the opening round of the Michael Lyng motors S.F.C. at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday next 25th September.
On the following evening Sunday the Junior (A) squad begin their campaign in the J.F.C. with an away game against Rathvilly in Fr. Ryan Park Rathvilly with a 7 p.m. throw in.
Both championships will continue over the following two weekend’s with the seniors listed to play O’Hanrahans and Co. champions Eire Og. The juniors meanwhile will take on Ballon and Leighlinbridge in their remaining group games.
Bennekerry-Tinryland senior ladies did not have to kick a ball to remain unbeaten in the S.F.C. on Sunday last. With the referee and the team already on the field for the 6 p.m. throw in word came through that Rathvilly were not turning up and the BT ladies were given a walk over. There was disappointment in the BT camp at this cancellation at such short notice as a number of players had travelled long distances for the game. Surely more notice of such cancellations should be given in future.
Former Tinryland player Darren Murphy now based in London was involved in a very exciting London Intermediate final with his club Harlesden Harps at Ruislip on Sunday. Harlesden Harps led all the way but their opponents St. Joseph’s scored a last minute goal which brought the game to extra time. In extra time Harps once again led but were denied victory by 2 late scores which saw St. Joseph’s win the title.
The club lotto is now heading for €8300 and can be done online by downloading the Tinryland G.F.C. clubforce app.
