J.F.C. C 2020 semi final

        Clonmore 4-14                       Tinryland 2-5

Clonmore’s 2nd 15 proved too strong for Tinryland’s 3rd string in this 2020 Carlow J.F.C. (C) semi-final at the Netwatch training centre in Fenagh on Wednesday 21st July.

Clonmore totally dominated the opening 20 minutes in this game played in tropical conditions with the men from the Wicklow border scoring 2 goals and 4 points without reply in that segment of play.

The first Clonmore goal arrived within 30 seconds of the throw in from their lively corner forward Sean Tomkins with their 2nd major arriving in the 17th minute from wing forward Jamie Walsh which left the men from Hacketstown leading by 10 points at this stage. Tinryland eventually awoke from their slumbers following the introduction of Conor Brennan and the men in blue and white hoops got on the scoreboard following a Brennan point followed by another from a placed ball via Jack Lowry. Clonmore finished the half on a high note however with another Sean Tompkins goal on the stroke of half time which left the scoreboard reading 3-7 to 0-2 when referee Damien Brady sounded the interval break.

When play resumed Tinryland introduced 2 more subs in John Whyte and Eoin Fields and they then proceeded to enjoy their best spell scoring 2-3 in the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half. The first Tinryland goal was a beauty finished by Adam Mullen following great play from Cian Nicholl and Jack Lowry. Adam Mullen was the chief producer of the 2nd Tinryland goal also when he was fouled in the square in the 14th minute to give Jack Lowry a penalty which he duly converted. The game was certainly more evenly matched now but Clonmore kept their composure with a 4th goal scored by Darren McGrath proving to be the icing on the cake.

Clonmore had impressive players in Paddy Byrne, Darren McGrath, Sean Tomkins, Willie Byrne, Kevin McCarney and Colm McGrath.

For Tinryland Daire Brophy, Tommy Dunne, Adam Mullen, Cian Nicholl, Jack Murphy, Brian McGrath and subs Conor Brennan and John Whyte stood out.

Tinryland: Mick Delaney, Harry Fennelly, Daire Brophy, Cathal Whelan, Sam Byrne, Tommy Dunne, Jack Murphy, Cian Nicholl 0-1, Jason Noctor, Garry Scully, Adam Mullen 1-0, Brian McGrath, John Dempsey, Jack Lowry 1-2, Aongus O’Shea. Subs; Adam Nolan, Eoin Fields, John Whyte, Conor Brennan 0-2, Alan Byrne.
