GAA Return To Training Update

It seems like a very long time since we have been able to train and play together and we all yearn for those days to return. Thankfully the announcements this week show some light at the end of the tunnel!

A review by the NI Executive will be held on the week of April 5th and presuming restrictions are then eased as proposed, training at adult and underage levels will be allowed to resume from April 12th (in the 6 counties only). Initially this will be in groups of up to 15 people only, including coaches (full contact) is permitted. No inter-county training will be permitted at this time.

We have been working hard behind the scenes drawing up the training schedules and hope to have all teams back when we get the green light; to be able to do this we require all our pitches to be allowed to open and await guidance on this. When we hear more about the return to play protocols we will forward them on. We envisage that we will need Covid Supervisors for each team and ask that if anyone is willing to do this role that they forward their name on to the team manager.

In the meantime we encourage all our players to get out and be doing some training on their own as the playing season is just round the corner now!

The health and safety of our players and our community has always been our main focus over the past year. We all need to continue to work hard to allow for a safe return to our games and to prevent any further breaks and delays in continuing with the playing year.

Continue to stay safe everyone and we look forward to allowing players back to training soon!  🇳🇬
