Bracks sore to the top of premier championship.

Ballinabrackey 3:06 Ratoath 1:09

Ballinabrackey made the trip to Navan On Sunday morning for an 11am kick off in perfect conditions against favourites of this division Ratoath. They started the first half on the right foot with Gavin Quinn pointing over a well taken free. A few missed opportunities for Ratoath saw Gavin Quinn and Oisin Gannon getting more scores for the Bracks. Ratoath responded with quick scores leaving it level at the water break with 3 points a piece. It was Ratoath who came firing back out in the second quarter, this time taking their chances knocking over points. David Finn powered through mid field and got his name on the score board for the Bracks and this was to be the only score for Ballinabrackey in the second quarter. Ratoath hit the back of the net just before the half time whistle and this looked like it was going to be a long second half for Ballinabrackey as Ratoath were up by 5 points. However never to be underestimated, Ballinabrackey came out with their shooting boots on and substitute Aron Kennedy got the first score for the Bracks after half time. Ratoath pointed over a free before Gavin Quinn broke through their defence to hit the back of the net to bring Ballinabrackey back into this game. Ratoath got one more point from ply before the second half water break with the score as 1-8 Ratoath to Ballinabrackey 1-5. 15 minutes to go and Ballinabrackey trailing by 3 they showed great character and their never say die attitude ensured two more goals hit the back of Ratoaths nets. One from Gavin Quinn and one from super sub Alan Dunne. Gordon Bannon’s point was the safety score Ballinabrackey needed to ensure they were lifting the silver at the end of the match. What an unbelievable comeback for Ballinabrackey and great to see these me earn some well deserved silverware.
