Ballinabracky ease to victory

The Bracks Bounce Back.

Ballinabrackey 3:16

Syddan 0:04

Having felt like they left the win behind them with Duleek Bellewstown in Trim, Ballinabrackey were back on form in style against Syddan in Summerhill on Saturday evening. Perfect weather conditions for this Round 2 Championship IFC action meant a sunny evening of football for the small amount of spectators. Ballinabrackey started well maintaining the majority of possession in the first half with Syddan struggling to get scores on the board. Ballinabrackey were gaining all the breaking ball in midfield and scores from the Carroll brothers, Damien and David and a fantastic performance from Chris O’Connor gave the Bracks a strong lead at half time with O’Connor’s brilliant early goal giving Ballinabrackey the hype needed to get on a good roll. Syddan only managed a point from free in the first half and with the Bracks having scored 1:05, it left our supporters expecting a bounce back in the second half from them.

Unfortunately, Syddan couldn’t find their feet and more well taken points from Damien Carroll, Chris O’Connor, Seamus Curry and Barry Thompson gave the Bracks the freedom they wanted in the second half. A class back of the net job from David Carroll along with a black card for Syddan in the third quarter left a comeback for them looking unlikely. In the final quarter Syddan managed 2 points before the Bracks finished off strong, enjoying the space, winning a lot of ball in midfield and younger players shining in the forwards. Sean Kavanagh’s well taken goal fired into the back of the Syddan net brought the Bracks score tally up to 3:13. Fantastic scores from Damien Carroll, Dean McNamee and Danny Quinn finishing off with a brilliant 45 from our goalie Dean Pluck. Last score of the game was a Syddan free leaving the final score line as Ballinabrackey 3:16 and Syddan 4 points. A very impressive performance by the Bracks and they march on to a must win game against Oldcastle on the 29th of August to hopefully advance out of Group D.
