U15 Boys SFAI National Cup-Round 4

Claremorris AFC 0-1 Moyne Villa

Moyne Villa emerged victorious in a close encounter at Concannon park. First half saw few chances for either side. Midway through the half a spectacular effort from Moyne Villa’s Cillian Ryan gave Mark in goals no chance. Second half saw Claremorris come right back into the match with the visitors lively on the counterattack. Alas the equaliser just wouldn’t come, despite a valiant effort and the visitors progressed to the next round were we wish them the best of luck.

U13 Boys SFAI National Cup-Round 4

Salthill Devon 3-2 Claremorris AFC

Unfortunately, the boys adventure around Connacht came to an end after a thrilling match in Drom. Salthill took an early lead but were pegged back with a David Newman strike. The home side took the lead again just before halftime. Second half saw Aaron O’Dea equalise for Claremorris. It looked as though the match was heading for extra-time, but the home side scored a last minute winner. Not to be for our boys but they can be extremely proud of the run they had. We also wish Salthill Devon the best of luck going forward in the cup.

TP Brennan Connacht Cup-Round 4

Arrow Harps 1-2 Claremorris AFC

Our Junior A side progressed to the last 16 of the Connacht Cup with a hard-fought win in Riverstown. Fourteen minutes in and a brilliant free kick from Danny Broderick gave Claremorris the lead. With the visitors dominating possession Arrow Harps were causing a few anxious moments counter attacking. Five minutes before the break and Harps had their best chance of the half but Claremorris keeper Keith Saunders brilliantly smothered the danger. A great effort from Oisin Brady just before the half time whistle was tipped on to the crossbar by the home keeper. Ten minutes into the second half and Simon Butler doubled our lead. Deep into injury time and a scramble in the Claremorris box saw the ball bundled home leaving a couple of nervous minutes before the full-time whistle blew. A good away win in Sligo and we await the draw for the last 16 with great interest.

U17 Girls Connacht Cup-Quarter Final

Corrib Rangers 0-4 Claremorris AFC

Our U17 Girls once more faced opposition from Galway as they travelled to Westside to take on Corrib Rangers. Claremorris were on top throughout the first half but failing to convert some good chances. Five minutes before the break Ashling Cummins won a penalty which Roisin Horkan dispatched to leave us 1 up at half time. Second half saw the visitors on top again and a quick fire hattrick from Alyssa Murphy capped a brilliant team display. A magnificent win on the road against a good Corrib Rangers team sees a Connacht Cup semi final next up for these Girls.
