Membership for Gaeil Triúcha 2021 will operate on our club app Clubforce.
With the ongoing COVID19 crisis the need for online registration is greater than ever this year. You will need to download the Clubforce app from the app store or google store if you do not already have it for lotto.
Paper registration will be available in some cases for those who don't have access to a smart device or broadband.

GAA Diversity & Inclusion Webinars
There are still several Diversity & Inclusion webinars to be delivered by the GAA in the coming weeks and they are not to be missed. The new dates will be shared when we receive them.
GAA Museum Virtual Book Club
While it’s not possible to visit the GAA Museum or its Library & Archives in person right now, you can still learn more about Gaelic Games and the history of the Association by becoming a member of their new virtual GAA Museum Book Club. Each month the GAA Museum team will choose a well-known GAA book to read and review. At the end of the month, the museum will host a free online interview with the author, in which members can submit questions and comments. The ambition of the book club is to review some of the great GAA books and to give us all a much-needed sporting boost as we stay at home. Ireland Reads
Libraries have partnered with booksellers, publishers and other organisations with an aim to get the whole country reading this month in the lead up to a national day of reading on Thursday, February 25th. Taking some time to relax and do the things we enjoy has never been more important and reading is a great way to get a sense of escape and boost wellbeing. You’ll find all the details at www.irelandreads.ie where you can;
- Pledge to read on Ireland Reads Day, February 25th
- Get some reading inspiration – simply enter the type of book you like best, how long you have available to read each day and the website will suggest the perfect book and tell you how long it will take to read it.

Upcoming Webinar - ‘Where We All Belong’ – bringing the GAA manifesto to life through the work of the Community & Health Department
This webinar will be held on Thursday the 25 February from 7-8.30pm. Presented by Colin Regan (Head of Community and Health), Geraldine McTavish (National Diversity and Inclusion Officer) and members of the Community and Health team. It will cover:
- An overview of the work of the department, including Community & Health committee structures, the Healthy Club Project, Social Inclusion/GAA for All, Youth leadership, Social Games & Physical Activities, Mental fitness, Substance abuse & Gambling Awareness, Healthy Eating, Community and Personal Development, and the new Green Clubs programme.
- Case studies of the benefits experienced by rural, urban, commuter belt, and international GAA units.
- The role of partnership at all levels of the Association, including how to connect with and attract under-represented populations and maximise access to public funding opportunities.
- Engaging with young digitally savvy volunteers who can also bring new ideas and opportunities.

Getting Ireland’s Adults COVID-Vaccination Ready
The Irish Gerontological Society held a public lecture last Wednesday the 17th of February in an aim to boost uptake and increase the efficacy of the HSE COVID-19 vaccine rollout. Beidh Gaeil Triúcha CLG ag eagrú Tráth na gCeist mar chuid de Sheachtain na Gaeilge. We are delighted to take part in Seachtain na Gaeilge this year. We will be hosting a Bilingual Quiz on Sunday 14th March at 7pm via Zoom. Caithfidh gach teaghlach / foireann clárú roimh ré tríd an nasc seo thíos. Every family / team must register beforehand the zoom link will be shared on our social media platforms several times over the coming weeks. Scaipigí an Scéal! Please spread the word!
Farney Siamsa Challenge
The Acorn Life sponsored “Farney Siamsa Challenge” will be launched next week. With Seachtaine na Gaeilge from 1st to 17th of March this Coiste have decided to knock the whole month of March in with some virtual contributions. We would like to challenge all clubs and everyone in the community to get involved in some way. Monaghan is an amazing county for its culture and local history. Listed below are a few ways to get involved it must be stressed that photos and Videos be restricted to the household involved and that we all respect the Government guidelines on Covid.
Households can take part in one or all of the following:
- Song as Geailge no as Bearla
- Art huge scope here Theme can be Gaa / March/ Gaeilge / St Patricks Day ….
- Tune
- Comhra (can be a good news story as Gaeilge or Sean Focail)
- Recitation
- Dance
- Local Heritage (Landmarks, Cures, Superstitions, Traditions in the Family, down memory lane etc) this can be text and photos or audio.
Videos and recordings are to be max of 2 mins of duration and must be submitted by the Club Secretary or Cultural Officer. In the next few days, guidelines will be issued for recording. Photo or text no limit on those but same process Secretary or Cultural officer must email to the Cultural Officer at Monaghan GAA.
There are some resources in the line of tunes songs and recitations for any clubs who need them, please get in touch with our Cultural Officer Noel Flood on the same.
So please Push it, Promote it, and Participate in it.
We hope that this will, in some small way help to lift the hearts of everyone in our parishes, towns, counties, country and in Irish Communities across the world
Monaghan Sports Partnership – Upcoming Events
0 to 3K Walk to Jog Beginner Programme:
MSP are launching this exciting new programme on March the 1st. This is a FREE 6-week programme which is suitable for all ages, both young and old, and is ideal for complete beginners, and anyone who wishes to get a little fitter and healthier.
The programme is designed by a vastly experienced athletics coach, who will be on hand with weekly podcasts of each session to guide you every step of the way from 0 to 3K. It is a simple progressive programme that begins with more walking than jogging, and gradually evolves into more jogging than walking over a 6-week period. Participants will receive two podcasts and session plans each week to guide them through each session, making the transition from walking to jogging easier and more fun.

Physical Literacy Workshop: Thursday 4th March 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Monaghan Sports Partnership have come together with Cavan Sports Partnership to facilitate this workshop. Sport Ireland Coaching has developed this course to give participants the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of physical literacy. Physical literacy is the foundation for lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity.
This is an interactive 2 hour workshop which will enable participants to:
(1) Outline the origins, definition, elements, relationship between the elements and importance of physical literacy
(2) Explain whether individuals can be described as ‘physically literate’ and whether physical literacy can be assessed.
The cost of this workshop is €10 per participant and is heavily subsidised by Monaghan Sports Partnership and Cavan Sports Partnership

Coaching Children Workshop Series: 6 weeks beginning Thursday 11th March 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Monaghan Sports Partnership have come together with Cavan Sports Partnership to facilitate this workshop series. Sport Ireland Coaching have developed this Coaching Children Programme to provide coaches and volunteers with a basic understanding of children’s sport and physical activity and best ways to optimise children’s enjoyment, participation and positive outcomes. Coaching Ireland have developed 4 modules, specifically to provide a better understanding of children’s sport and physical activity and best ways to optimise children’s enjoyment, participation and positive outcomes. The concepts of Physical Literacy and Holistic Development run throughout the series of workshops and will be covered in detail.
Workshop 1: Coaching Children Successfully in Sport – An Introduction for Coaches
Workshop 2: Child-Centred Coaching – Understanding Child Development & Learning and its Impact on How We Coach
Workshop 3: Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 1 – Coaching Children to Move
Workshop 4: Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 2 – Coaching Children to Think

Athletics Ireland Assistant Coach Course: Thursday 4th March 7:00pm
MSP, in partnership with Athletics Ireland are facilitating this assistant coaching course. This course will be run in two parts – firstly through a 3-hour online workshop via Zoom on Thursday the 4th of March at 7pm and secondly a 3-hour practical based outdoor workshop (Once restrictions allow this to take place).
The aim of the assistant coach course is to give some basic skills to the beginner coach to help assist a more senior coach in the delivery of coaching sessions to young athletes. It is an introduction to coaching in three key event areas, running (Sprints and Endurance), Jumping (Long Jump) and Throwing (Shot Putt).
The cost of this course is €20 per person and is heavily subsidised by Monaghan Sports Partnership.

Walking Track – Level 5 restrictions
As we continue in level 5 restrictions ALL Club facilities & buildings remain closed except for the walking track which is open to the entire Community. Please observe social distancing, use sanitiser and follow the 1-way system.
