St Lomans Mullingar Club Notes 04/03/2024:

ACFL Division 4:

St Lomans Mullingar 2-10 Shandonagh 0-10

Our division 4 side began their campaign at home to Shandonagh last Sunday in Home Instead Lakepoint Park. The visitors started the brighter with Ryan Donnelly hit three points with Tristan Graham getting the hosts off the mark in between. Eoghan O’Keefe reduced the arrears for the blues, who got their noses in front moments later after a well-worked team move culminated in Daniel McCann coolly finding the net. The Lomans men struck four quickfire points before the interval to give them breathing space. Eoghan O’Keefe, Shane Mulderry and two from Cian Daly doing the damage for the home side on this occasion. Lomans lead by six at the half time whistle.

Credit to Shandonagh who once again started the half the better with five consecutive points to bring the deficit back to the minimum. However once again the saints responded emphatically with scores from Rory Sheahan, Eoghan O’Keefe, Tristan Graham and substitute Niall Dowdall. Aaron Flanagan hit back for the visitors with a well-taken score but it turned out to be in vein as Niall Dowdall got the blues second goal with five minutes to play, which effectively killed the game as a contest. Donnelly finished the day with one final placed ball, to leave six points between the sides at the final whistle with the home side victorious.

A good start to the year for our third team, and there were good performances all over the park. The division 1 experience of the likes of Eoghan O’Keefe, Rory Sheahan and Tristan Graham proved vital. Not to mention the likes of Mark O’Gara and Adam O’Connor who both provided solid performances. Substitute Niall Dowdall’s introduction was also crucial in securing the points. On the day though Eoghan O’Keefe was the player of the match scoring three points and was influential throughout. Next up is Coralstown Kinnegad in Lakepoint Park.
