St Lomans GAA Club Notes 31/10/2022:

Senior Management news:

After 3 hugely successful years St Lomans Mullingar and Declan Kelly have decided to part ways. Declan came in for the 2020 season following on after two successive defeats in county finals. Having to contend with a global pandemic in the first two seasons, he managed to guide us to Senior Glory in 2020 and 2021. 2022 was also successful where we reached an eighth county final in a row (3 in 3 years under Declan) and just fell short in the final. In that time, he also won an under 20 all Ireland title with his native Offaly. Declan has proved himself to be a fantastic manager but both sides have decided to go their separate ways after three fantastic years. The Club wish Declan the very best of luck in the future and he will always be welcome in Lakepoint Park.

Also stepping aside are Selectors Garrett Hickey and Jonathan Plunkett. As well as Paddy Christie who came in during 2022 and will take over the helm in Longford next season.

The club would sincerely like to thank all four men for their hard work over their time. We wish them all the best for the future!

Senior Ladies Management:

After two years at the helm Ryan Jones has decided to step away as the senior ladies manager. Ryan stepped in to the in 2021 and led the team to a championship semi final only to be defeated by county champions Milltown. 2022 saw the team defeated in the quarter final by the The Downs. Over the two years Ryan has given 100% to the job and built up a great relationship with the players. He has also been instrumental in the development of a youthful team with a bright future ahead.

Selectors Alan Graham and Paul Leonard have also decided to step away after working with Ryan for two years. A huge thank you to all three men for their hard work and dedication in that time.

Congratulations:

It was a week of huge success for our club in terms of intercounty recognition.

Our own Ronan O’Toole who was named Tailteann cup player of the year after his phenomenal performances for Westmeath in 2022. We had three players make the Tailteann cup team of the year John Heslin, Sam McCartan and the aforementioned O’Toole made up half of the Westmeath contingent. Another St Loman’s man Paddy Lynam made the Christy Ring, Joe McDonagh and Lory Meagher team of the year after his excellent year for Longford in the middle of the park.

Well done to all our players who have done their county and club proud.
