The thirty two County winners of the annual AIB Club of the Year competition have been announced along with two new special club awards. Each winner will receive a development grant of €2,000 as well as entry into their respective AIB Provincial Club of the Year competitions. Each Provincial winner will then receive a further grant of €5,000, with the eventual National winner receiving a grant of €10,000. This means that the overall winner, who will be announced on Monday 2nd February, will receive a total of €17,000 prize money.
This year also saw the launch of two new awards, one for a small club and one for a large club. Every club that entered the 2003 AIB Club of the Year competition went into two draws. One draw was exclusively for small clubs whilst the second draw was for large clubs only. The winners of these draws were Cumann Peile na bPiarsaigh, Co naGaillimhe (small club) and Holy-Cross Ballycahill GAA Club, Co Tipperary (large club). These two clubs won €3,000 worth of vouchers for club gear.
This is the fourth year of the AIB Club of the Year awards, with Sean Dolans CLG (Derry), Eire Og CLG (Carlow) and St. Malachy’s Castlewellan (Down) being the three previous National winners.
