Senior team going grat guns
Being drawn in the most difficult group in the championship it was essential that we get off to a good start. We entered the game as serious underdogs but it was clear from early on that our boys were on a high. Playing a highly skillful brand of football we raced into an early lead and Don Garrys early goal gave them confidence they needed.
By half time we were 7 points up and facing the wind in the second half we expected to be up against it in the second half. However it was Cooraclare took up the challange as the second half began and scored the first two points of the half. Eire Og did steal a goal but it was Cooraclare that finished the stronger winning on a score of 1-15 to 1-9
We were again the underdogs for the Cusack Cup semi-final V Doonbeg. The atmosphere was not as tense as in the championship game but nonetheless there were a lot of scores to settle.
Again we started off very lively and an early goal, this time by Padraic Looney and a point from Don Garry took us into a four point lead.In the second quarter Doonbeg came back and early in the second half they took the lead. This was shortlived however as Declan Mc Mahon took a very good goal after excellent work by young John Looney. Doonbeg levelled again as time ran out but a foull on Mark Tubridy (just back from injury) resulted in the winning point. Score Cooraclare 2-7, Doonbeg 0-12
We now play Kilmurry Ibrickane in the final in three weeks
