Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 18th May 2025
After a very satisfactory league campaign Tinryland senior footballers will contest the semi-final of the Carlow Credit Union division 1 league on this coming Friday evening 23rd May at 7 p.m. This game will be part of a double header with the other semi-final between Rathvilly and Palatine fixed for 8.30 p.m.
These matches must finish on the night and if level at full time 20 minutes extra time will be played. If still level the game will be decided by penalties. Both matches are ticket only and can be purchased from the Carlow GAA website. Tinryland last won the S.F.L. division 1 fifty seven years ago in 1968.
Our junior (A) team will now be involved in a relegation battle following a loss to Rathvilly in division 3 on Monday last. This team will be competing in the Junior (B) championship which will commence in early September.
At underage level Tinryland will have 2 teams in action in the coming week. On Wednesday next 21st May our U14 team will host Grange in the Cental championship at 7 p.m. On the following evening on Thursday 22nd May the U12 team will be at home to St. Martins in the Cental mini-league at 7 p.m.
Plans are at an advanced stage and entries are flooding in for the hugely popular South East sevens tournament which will be staged in our club in late June and early July. Last years event attracted 96 club teams to Tinryland and with the addition of a further 32 adult teams this year 128 clubs will visit Rathcrogue commencing on Saturday 21st June with the under 16 grades. The trophys for the ladies and mens competitions will be presented in memory of club stalwarts Jim Deane snr and our late club president Joe O’Gorman.
The club lotto jackpot still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Thomas Moore, Patrick O’Gorman, John Barrett and Rita Whelan.
