Old Leighlin defeat Tinryland in Division 5

For the 3rd successive week Tinryland managed to field a 3rd adult team thanks to the hard work by mentors Ger Broderick and Eamonn O’Sullivan.

In a competitive first half Tinryland held their own after a well worked goal from Seamus McCullough and excellent point taking from Tomas Murphy (3), Eoin Riordan, John Dempsey and Seamus McCullough.

Old Leighlin’s 2nd team scored one goal mid- way through the half from veteran player Richie Burke and points from Liam Coughlan, Sean Whelan, and Eoin Bambrick (2).

A feature of the first half was an excellent save from Tinryland goalie Adam Buggle.

When referee James Foley resumed play Old Leighlin quickly set about rectifying the situation and they were back on level terms by the 37th minute after 3 quick scores from Richie Burke, sub Willie Minchin and Eoin Bambrick. It was all Old leighlin now with their 2nd half substitutions Willie Minchin and Paddy Deevy making a big difference. Another Richie Burke goal in the 44th minute stretched the OL lead to 4 points and before the end they added another major from Eoin Bambrick with Tinryland limited to one further 2nd.half point from Tomas Murphy.

Tinryland had good players in Adam Buggle, Brian Geoghegan, Jack Murphy, Ruairi Scully, Cian McCreanor, Shay McCullough, Tomas Murphy and Paul Doyle.

Tinryland will be back in action on Wednesday next 9th April away to Railyard in Moneenroe at 7.30 p.m.
