Tinryland V Palatine Div 3

S.F.L. Division 3

     Palatine 0-15                                 Tinryland 0-8

Palatine with a mixture of youth and experience proved too strong for the home side in this opening game of the S.F.L. division 3 on Saturday last. The Cnoc Arda men dominated the opening quarter scoring 5 unanswered points via Lee Gordon, Dylan Doyle, Charlie Deacy and Eoin Ryan (3) including a well taken 2 pointer in the 6th minute.

After a number of wides the hosts finally got on the scoreboard with a Glen Doyle converted free won by Adam Mullen.

Palatine replied with another brilliant 2 pointer from wing back Sean Dermody before Glen Doyle doubled Tinryland’s tally. Palatine continued to seek 2 pointers but their remaining first half efforts fell short. They did increase their advantage via David Reid and Dylan Doyle with Tinryland’s Glen Doyle closing the first half scoring with another converted free in the 29th minute.

Half time score Palatine 0-10 Tinryland 0-3.

The early stages of the second half saw Eoghan Hosey entering the fray for Tinryland but it was Palatine who continued to press scoring two more points from Lee Gordon and David Kehoe by the 38th minute.

Tinryland then began to show improved form adding on 3 further points via Eoin Townsend, Jamie Walker and Glenn Doyle. Palatine’s centre forward Dylan Doyle increased his teams total with a point in the 54th minute which was cancelled out by a Jamie Walker one for Tinryland. The closing stages of this enjoyable game played in ideal conditions saw another Palatine point from substitute James Cranny and a wonderful Tinryland point from Padraic Whelan.
