South East Sevens football tournament launch On Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. in Clubhouse
96 teams from the 4 corners of Ireland have entered for the South East sevens underage tournament which will take place over 3 weekends at the Tinryland G.F.C. grounds in Rathcrogue.
On this coming weekend 22nd and 23rd June the girls and boys U16 grade will be decided with 16 teams in action. The girl’s event will be competed for the Mary Dwyer cup while former Tinryland player Pat Doyle will be remembered in the boy’s competition which takes place on Sunday next.
Over the following 2 weekends girls and boys u14 will compete for the Tommy O’Neill and Peenie and Mickey Whelan trophies while the competition will conclude on the 1st weekend in July with the Cora Townsend trophy for girls u12 and the Ned Hayden shield for boys U12.
The South East tournament will be launched in the clubhouse on this Wednesday 19th June when the draw will be performed live on social media. A feature of this year’s competition that has attracted over 90 teams from 14 counties and 3 provinces will be an app which will enable all involved and all interested to keep up to date as the tournament progresses. All committee members and supporters are asked to help out over the 6 days or for as much as they can. This event will see huge crowds visit our club for the next 3 weekends and it is important that Tinryland G.F.C. showcases its facilities and organisational ability in the best way possible.
The daily timetable for each day of the South East sevens tournament is as follows:
9 am Registration, 9.20 am Coaches meeting, 9.30 am parade, Group matches 10 am to 1 pm
Food break 1 to 2 pm. Quarter final Cup 2 p.m. Quarter final shield 2.30 p.m.
Semi-final Cup 3 p.m. Semi-final shield 3.15 p.m. All finals 4 p.m. and presentation of trophies 4.45 p.m.
