Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 17th March 2024
Our junior team drew with Asca in the S.F.L division 3 on Saturday last. For long periods of this game Tinryland had to play 2nd fiddle to the Carlow town team but 3 late goals from Luke Broderick, Glenn Doyle and Bobby Doyle edged Tinryland ahead entering stoppage time. Asca responded with a goal and a point before Padraic Whelan salvaged a league point for Tinryland with the last kick of the game. The Juniors will be back in action this coming Saturday 23rd March at 7.30 p.m. at home to Leighlinbridge.
Our U18 team were well beaten by Eire Og in the Cental spring league on Monday last. Our U14 team will begin their season at home to Railyard on Sunday next 24th March at 11 a.m.
Congratulations are extended to our U20 and senior player Cian McGuire who was part of the UL team that won the All- Ireland freshers title last week.
Sympathy is extended to the Purcell family of Ballinacarrig on the sad passing of former Tinryland player Willie Purcell last week
Club members are encouraged to take part in the Tinryland tidy towns and park spring clean 2024 which takes place on Saturday next 23rd March from 10 a.m. All those taking part should meet at St. Joseph’s terrace Tinryland where pickers, gloves and bags will be supplied. Refreshments afterwards will be served in Tinryland parish hall.
The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €6300 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Brendan Farrell, Tom Delaney, Mark Deane and Niall Fitzpatrick.
