Tinryland G.F.C. club notes 16th January 2024
The recently crowned U20 (B) champions Tinryland will be presented with their medals at a function in the club at 9 p.m. on this coming Friday 19th January at 9 p.m. All members and supporters are invited to attend this event.
The 2024 playing season is now only one month away with the football leagues now scheduled to begin on the weekend of 15th and 16th of February. The format of this year’s league will see 2 weeks of football followed by one round of hurling and alternative weeks for each code from then on.
There will be relegation in the league this year and county players are not allowed to play if they are in a match day squad for the National league. The bottom two teams in each division will be relegated in this season’s league.
Congratulations to the 3 Bennekerry/Tinryland players who were part of the Carlow team that defeated Derry in the National league in Celtic Park on Sunday last. They were Ruth Bermingham (Captain), Cliodhna Ni She who scored 1-5 and Maeve O’Neill who scored a crucial goal on her debut with Carlow seniors. Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies are planning to hold 2 Table Quizzes for juveniles and adults in the club on 16th and 23rd February.
All players, members and intending members are reminded that membership fees are now due for 2024 and can be paid by using the club force app.
Congratulations to Tinryland Handball member P.J. Donovan who received the Leinster Hall of Fame award at the recent Leinster Handball convention in the Dolmen Hotel. P.J. has contributed a lot to handball in Carlow over a long number of years and has coached a number of young players to Leinster and All Ireland success.
The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €5500 and can be played via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday draws from any committee member.
