 Tinryland G.F.C. Notes 3rd December 2023

Tinryland U20 footballers advanced to the knockout stages of the Stryve U20 (B) championship without kicking a ball when Askea could only muster 13 players for the round 2 game on Saturday last. Tinryland will now play Kildavin-Clonegal at home on Saturday next 9th December at 6 p.m. with the winners advancing to the semi-final and the losers guaranteed a place in the quarter final.

There was a very good attendance of players and club officials on Friday last when the new football manager John Nolan and the new strength and conditioning coach John Murphy paid their first visit to the club. Both men outlined their plans for the upcoming season and were warmly received by all present.

Congratulations to club U15 player Eanna Dunican who clocked an excellent 7.49 seconds in winning the 60m sprint at the National sports centre in Abbottstown on Wednesday last. The St. Laurence O’Toole sprinter has now been accepted on to the Leinster regional high- performance squad.

The Annual St. Stephens day turkey trot promoted by Tinryland A.C. will go ahead on St. Stephens Day over the usual 4- mile lap of the parish. Entry fee is €10 with all proceeds going to Tinryland N.S. Autism unit and Delta Centre Carlow.

Well done to club member Conor Byrne who raised €1150 euro for mens mental health, suicide prevention, prostrate and testicular cancer by taking part in Movember during the month of November.

The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €4800 and can be played via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last week’s lucky dip winners wereMartin Clancy, Padraic Deane, David Donegan and Pat & Enid c/o Enid Delaney.

All tickets for the upcoming Christmas draw are now in circulation and sales are going well with all proceeds going to the development of the new Gym in the club.
