Tinryland G.F.C. Notes for November 25th 2023
There was a good attendance at the joint Tinryland G.F.C. and Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies club dinner dance held in Ballykealy House Hotel on Friday last. On the night the BT ladies received their minor, junior and senior championship medals following an outstanding season. Player of the year awards went to Fiona O’Sulliven (Senior), Ciara Kelly (Junior) and Sarah Nolan (Minor) with the team captains Nuala Mohan, Sarah Doyle and Lily O’Neill receiving the senior, junior and minor cups.
Tinryland G.F.C.president Joe O’Gorman presented player of the year awards to John Murphy (Senior), Mark Mullen (Young Player) and Alan Barrett (Junior).
Speakers on the night at this very enjoyable function were Tinryland G.F.C. chairman Bernard Mullen and Bennekerry/Tinryland chairwoman Yvonne Bullen-Cranny while Eamonn Byrne acted as M.C. for the evening.
Well done to the organising committee of Eileen Cahill, Yvonne Bullen-Cranny and Emma Deane who left no stone unturned to make the function a very enjoyable event.
Tinryland senior team will have a new manager for 2024. On Friday last it was confirmed that experienced Wexford based Dublin native John Nolan will take up the reins following the departure of Stephen O’Meara who was in charge for the past 3 years leading the team to two Co. finals.
The new manager will meet the players on this coming Thursday 30th November at 7 p.m.
Tinryland U20’s began their Strive U20 championship on Sunday last with a win away to Ballon. Outstanding for Tinryland were goalie Conall McGuire, Sean Murphy, Cian McGuire, Matthew Gleeson, Mark Mullen, Luke Broderick, Conor Carew, Cillian Fagan and Jody Doyle Hutton
They will be at home to Askea on this coming Saturday 2nd December at 6 p.m. in Rathcrogue in the 2nd group game. On the following week the U20 team will be at home to Kildavin-Clonegal.
The A.G.M of Tinryland G.F.C. will be held this evening Monday 27th November at 8 p.m. All players, supporters and existing members are encouraged to attend this important meeting when plans for the coming year and a review of the past year will be discussed. The A.G.M. of Bennekerry Tinryland ladies club will be held on this Wednesday evening at 8.30 p.m.
The Tinryland Xmas draw tickets are now in circulation at €10 each and all members and supporters are encouraged to support this important fundraiser which will help to provide a new gym. The construction of the gym commenced in the past week.
The weekly lotto jackpot now stands at €4700 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member. Last week’s lucky dip winners were Eamonn Byrne, Michael Murphy (The River), Peadar Bermingham and Emma Delaney.
