John Nolan the new manager of Tinryland Senior Footballers
Following the departure recently of Steve O’Meara after 3 years at the helm Dublin native and Wexford based John Nolan has been appointed as the new manager of Tinryland senior footballers for the coming year.
Nolan is vastly experienced in both mens and womens team management and he has an impressive CV in both codes. He has over three decades of experience in coaching, training, sports analysis and team management since first cutting the mustard as a coach with Firhouse and Castleknock on the Dublin juvenile scene. He then had a spell as manager of the Dublin minors before coaching at third level when he led I.T. Tallaght to Trench cup success in 2001 and 2003. He followed that appointment by managing Trinity College in the Sigerson cup before spells with Suncroft in Kildare, St. Brigids in Dublin, Kilbride in Meath and St. Annes in Dublin.
In 2018 he led St. James G.F.C. based in Ramsgrange to their first Wexford senior football title before leading the Wexford minor footballers to a Leinster semi-final in 2017.
Showing his versatility he then led Ballygarrett to a Wexford Intermediate hurling title in 2019 with the model county club also reaching the Leinster Intermediate final that year.
John then was involved with one of Irelands top womens teams Foxrock-Cabinteely from 2020 to 2021 during which the famous Dublin ladies club won 2 Dublin senior championships and were Leinster winners in 2019 and Leinster finalists in 2020.
His last appointment was with the Wexford ladies team that reached the All Ireland final in 2022.
John’s appointment by Tinryland looks to be a smart move and it is hoped that the team can go one better than in 2022 and 2023 when they lost in the Co. senior finals.
