Tinryland G.F.C. club Notes 24th September 2023
Tinryland Senior footballers are back in another Co. final after a professional display in the semi-final in difficult conditions at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday. Their opponents on Sunday 4 p.m. will be Eire Og who beat Rathvilly in a penalty shoot-out in the other semi-final.
It was a good week for the club at underage level when the U15 team captured the Healy family cup by winning the Cental Division 1B final against Eire Og in a cracking game at the Netwatch training Centre on Wednesday last. In one of the best games seen at the venue this year the game was decided in extra time with Tinryland winning on a scoreline of 2-13 to 3-8. Jamie Doyle the captain contributed 1-12 of Tinryland’s total in this game with other scores coming from Harry O’Brien, Walter Webb and Liam Ryan. The team was: Brandon Deane, Oliver Walsh, Cathal Purcell, Cian McNamara, Charlie Keogh, Luke Cahill, Calum O’Brien-Murphy, Mikey Byrne, Harry O’Brien, Walter Webb, Jamie Doyle (Captain), Eanna Dunican, James McDonnell, Liam Ryan, Macdara Deane, Oisin Byrne, Daniel Byrne, Conal Doyle, Evan Farrell, Sean Og Farrell, Max Duignan, Jamie Deane, Mark Cahill.
The U15 team will bring the cup to Tinryland N.S. on tomorrow Monday at the invitation of school principal Orlaith Hennessy and hopefully their visit will inspire the next generation of Cumann na mBunscoill and juvenile players.
Well done to the backroom team of Enda Dunican, John Murphy, Paula Hickey, Mick Kehoe, John Farrell, and Gregg Doyle for their hard work with the team during the season.
The coming week will be another busy one at all levels. The Tinryland U17 minor team will be in action at home to Rathvilly this Monday evening at 7.15 p.m. Our junior C team will be at home to Grange on this coming Wednesday 27th September at 7.30 p.m. Our Junior(A) team will contest a relegation battle to avoid a drop to Junior B when they face Old Leighlin at Netwatch Cullen park on Friday next 29th of September at 7.p.m.
Bennekerry/Tinryland ladies will contest the Tell labs ladies S.F. final against Co. champions Old Leighlin on Saturday next 30th September at 2 p.m.
Congratulations to Tinryland senior footballer John Murphy who won a silver medal at the National ploughing championships in Ratheniska last week in the U23 grade.

Sympathy is extended to club executive member Johnny Brennan and the Brennan family on the passing of his uncle David Brennan formerly of Tinryland on Wednesday last.
A club executive meeting will take place at 8.30 p.m. on tomorrow Monday. The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €3800 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member.
