We extend sympathy to Mrs. Noreen O’Brien Priestown on the rent death in England of her brother John Burke, a native of Priestown. Before emigration stole him from us John was a talented footballer and hurler and was one of 9 St. Patricks hurlers who helped Killenaule to win the South Tipperary minor hurling final of 1955 when John lined out at corner back. May John Rest in Peace.
We also extend sympathy to Mrs. Margaret O’Brien Drangan Village on the recent death of her sister Mrs Helen Smith formerly Helen St. John Priestown, who also resided in England. May the soul of Helen rest in peace.
We extend sympathy to Matty Fleming Hillview Drangan on the recent death of his sister Mrs Josie Mackey Graystown, Killenaule formerly Josie Fleming of Priestown, Drangan.
Before her illness Josie was a well-known and well-liked member of the staff at Centra Killenaule where she always kept up to date with the local news from Drangan.
We also extend sympathy to Josies daughter Lesley, her sons David, Joseph, John and Paul, sisters Peggy and Bernie, brothers Mick, Matty and Robert and stepfather Tom Hickey. Josephines late husband Joe and her brother Mick were prominent members of St. Patricks football teams and Robert Hickey was one of five St. Patricks players who won South and Co Minor hurling medals with Ballingarry Gaels in 1994 before embarking on a successful career with Clonmel Óg. But the story of the Flemings goes back much further to 1953 when Josephines father John and his brother Jimmy won South and Co. Junior Football medals with Drangan and to 1947 when Josephines uncle Dick won South and Co. Senior Football Championships with St. Patricks. May the soul of Josephine rest in peace.
