Tinryland 1-11 Fenagh 0-3
Tinryland seniors maintained their unbeaten record in domestic competition this year when easily accounting for last years Intermediate champions Fenagh in Rathcrogue on Friday evening 24th March. With conditions a lot better than the previous league game on Tuesday evening Tinryland gained the opening score in the 3rd minute with a point from Cormac O’Brien who continues to impress in these early season games. Danny Moran increased the home team’s advantage in the 7th minute when he lofted over another point after great play from Cormac O’Brien, Cillian Fagan and Conor O’Toole. Paul Broderick then got in on the scoring act when he scored Tinryland’s 3rd point after more good play by O’Brien. Tinryland continued to take the game to Fenagh and their 4th point arrived in the 11th minute via that man Cormac O’Brien and after the lively centre forward won a free in the 18th minute Paul Broderick converted Tinryland’s 5th point. Fenagh’s best player Padraig Hynes eventually opened the Moll Bennetts account with a brilliant point in the 19th minute before Tinryland full forward mark Lawlor closed the first half scoring after he made a mark.

When the teams returned for the 2nd half Rory Doyle had replaced Cormac O’Brien who was forced to retire after a knock on his hip. Padraig Hynes then scored another brilliant point for the Fenagh men before Mikey Hosey entered the fray for Tinryland replacing Cillian Fagan. Tinryland continued to take the game to their opponents and another piece of brilliance from Paul Broderick resulted in another Tinryland point after great play from Cormac Walshe, Conor Ryan and Conor McGrath. Fenagh kept plugging away and Padraig Hynes slotted over another long- distance point in the 40th minute to leave only 4 points separating the teams. TIntyland’s superior fitness then began to kick in and 3 further Paul Broderick points between the 41st and 45th minutes stretched the home team’s advantage to 7 points with 10 minutes remaining. Fenagh were then dealt a mortal blow when their best player Padraig Hynes was red carded for a late challenge on Conor McGrath who was forced to leave the game to be replaced by Cillian Fagan. With numerical advantage Tinryland continued to dominate and a Paul Broderick point was followed by a Cillian Fagan goal following good play from Mark Lawlor, Niall Lowry and Rory Doyle to maintain Tinryland’s 100% record in this year’s league.
Outstanding for the winners were Cian McGuire, Barry Power, Danny Moran, Conor O’Toole, Cormac O’Brien, Mark Lawlor and Paul Broderick who finished with a personal tally of seven points including 5 from open play. Fenagh’s best players were Padraig Hynes until his dismissal, Donnacha Murphy, Colin Byrne, Keagan Bradley, Jamie Wall, and Tommy Bric.
