Tinryland G.F.C. Notes
The new playing season began on a good note for the club when the Junior team defeated Rathvilly in the preliminary round at Rathcrogue on Saturday last. In an evenly contested first half Tinryland shaded matters and led by a single point at half time. The team then started the second half scoring a goal from Peter Hennessy and mid-way through the half led by six points. In the closing stages Rathvilly threw the kitchen sink at the home team but the Tinryland defence held out to record a five point victory. Outstanding for Tinryland were Chris Townsend, Joey Ryan, Adam Mullen, Vivian Nixon, Luke Broderick, Gregg Murphy, Rory Doyle, Cian McGuire and Cillian Fagan. The Juniors are back in action this coming Saturday 4th March with a home game against Kildavin/Clonegal at 6 p.m. The senior team will play Grange on Friday next 3rd March in the preliminary round of the senior league. Throw in at Rathcrogue is at 7.30 p.m.
With the playing season now up and running all players are requested to renew their membership fees which includes insurances. This can be done via the Tinryland GAA clubforce app.
Current members and supporters are also encouraged to renew their membership in order to keep the club funds in the black for the coming year.
All players, members and supporters are encouraged to support the weekly club lotto which is a huge part of fundraising for the club throughout the year. The current jackpot in the lotto stands at €5000 and the lotto can be played via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket from any committee member.
Congratulations to club member Adam Murphy who continues to excel in sprinting at national level. The Tinryland A.C. member who finished 4th in the National 200m indoors 2 weeks ago captured the Connacht open title when he clocked 21.92 for the 200m.
