“Ah no, I wouldn't say it was an opportunity missed,” Kerry manager Peter Keane reflected following a gripping All Ireland SFC Final at Croke Park.
A late Killian Spillane point in the 66th minute edged Kerry in front against Dublin, who had played the entire second half with only 14 men following the dismissal of Jonny Cooper.
“We weren't into an All Ireland final since 2015, you have a young team,” Keane continued. “Sure what are they going to get only experience out of the game.
“There is a learning curve and I said all year we are on a crash course with a learning curve. This is only helping it.”
Keane, though, is adamant that Kerry will benefit from the experience gained in such a high stakes encounter at GAA headquarters.
“We could have won it, we could have lost it,” Keane reflected. “I suppose Dublin will probably feel the same. It is like any draw, you take it, you go away to prepare for the next day.”
Tommy Walsh made a significant contribution following his introduction which pleased the Kerry boss also. “I think we got a good bounce out of our subs today,” Keane commented.
“Tommy was one of those guys, what did he do? He had two shots, scored one, missed one, but he set up another one. He had a good day.”
